Excerpt from "Father & Sun" (2024)
“No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main”
- John Donne
Reimagined home videos from my childhood serve as the foundation of a coming-of-age myth — one that traces inheritance, control, and identity through the lens of autofiction. Framed by a personal narration that echoes the oral tradition of myth-making, the footage is reassembled into a symbolic narrative, where the everyday becomes epic and the personal becomes archetypal.
This strategy reframes recorded memory, casting mundane gestures as signs of dominance, resistance, or longing. Blurring the boundary between lived experience and constructed narrative, the work expands from private archive into a broader reflection on masculinity, generational trauma, and the myths we inherit — or struggle to escape.
